The days of bluefish

The days of bluefish

The seaside village of Cetara dedicates to fish, the main food of its culinary tradition, a feast that is the ideal continuation of the event "A whole tuna" which began in 1992.

In the first week of August the Bluefish Days are an event delicious as well as cultural: during these days vacationers have the opportunity to discover the fishing through meetings and demonstrations that often take place at the edge of the old "tonnare" (tuna fisheries) of the Amalfi Coast.

In the evening, the square of the port becomes a restaurant under the stars where you can enjoy fresh seafood accompanied by traditional music.

Saint Dominic illuminations

Saint Dominic illuminations

The Saint Dominic Illuminations is an ancient tradition of Praiano which is celebrated in the convent of Santa Maria a Castro.

The feast remembers as the mother of St. Dominic, shortly before his birth, had a dream of a dog with a torch in its mouth to ignite the world and realized that it was a prophecy about how the child would have spread the word of God.

During the days of the feast, the inhabitants of the town are used to light the streets of the town up with candles and torches: the bright carpet created by thousands of candles in Piazza San Gennaro is especially beautiful.

Feast of Saint Mary Magdalen

Feast of Saint Mary Magdalen

Those who love the fireworks can not lose the patronal feast of St. Mary Magdalene in Atrani.

Fireworks illuminate the ground and the sea on the night of the Amalfi Coast with their colors and pay homage to the saint who, in the late thirteenth century, miraculously averted from the town the threat of Alexandrians pirates.

The festival is an opportunity to taste local dishes such as "sarchiapone", green pumpkin stuffed with minced meat, cheese and eggs, served with tomato sauce.
